Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about our vehicle inspection services.
Why do I need a pre-purchase inspection?
Purchasing an automobile, whether new or used, is a significant financial investment. When buying a new vehicle, there are numerous sources of information and reviews to help you understand the car’s quality and performance. However, options for evaluating a used car are limited. The history of a used car—whether it has suffered major accident damage, undergone corrective paint jobs, experienced poor repair work, had significant replacements, or has inherent problems—cannot be determined through a simple visual inspection due to multiple users and various previous owners. As a result, buying a used car can be stressful and feel like a gamble, requiring extensive knowledge of different car types. Fortunately, pre-purchase vehicle inspection services like ours can assist you in making the best decision possible.
Who needs a Greasemonkey Inspectors pre purchase inspection report?
Anyone interested in purchasing a reconditioned or used vehicle should consider a pre-purchase inspection.
What areas does Greasemonkey Inspectors report cover?
The Greasemonkey pre-purchase inspection covers over 300 checkpoints, including a road test, interior and exterior condition, vehicle diagnostic scan, engine condition, suspensions, hybrid system condition, under the hood, and underbody. All flaws in these categories will be documented to help you make an informed purchasing decision. Please note that the specific areas we inspect may vary depending on the package you choose.
What cities are covered by Greasemonkey Inspectors?
Any vehicle located in Los Angeles, United States.
What kind of vehicles do we inspect?
Currently, we inspect small cars, hatchbacks, SUVs, 4-wheel drives, 7-seaters, plug-in hybrids, hybrid cars, electric vehicles, estate cars, pickup trucks, performance cars, vans, and trucks.
What is the best way to book a technician?
Book through our website or simply call our helpline at (437) 292 5057 to schedule a Greasemonkey Inspector at the seller’s location.
Is it necessary for the buyer to be present at all times?
You are not required to be present during the inspection, although you are welcome to attend if you wish. The inspector will focus on the inspection to complete it within the allotted time. After the inspection, you will receive a complete report via email, including photos, videos, and a scan report.
Are the technicians properly qualified?
All technicians at Greasemonkey Inspectors are qualified experts with over ten years of industry experience, both locally and globally.
Do you do a vehicle diagnostic scan ?
Yes, all of our packages include a full diagnostic scan, which is detailed in the report. Our diagnostic scan covers all components related to the electronic control unit (ECU), not just the engine. With our premium package, a detailed scan report will be provided in PDF format.
What are the benefits of purchasing a premium package?
There are several benefits to using our premium package service. We evaluate the vehicle with specialized tools to identify engine block combustion leaks using relevant test kits, perform a radiator pressure test to check for cooling system issues, conduct a paint thickness test to detect major accident repairs, measure tire thickness, and provide a market price valuation of the vehicle. Additionally, Greasemonkey Inspectors provide the buyer with a detailed repair estimate, including the cost of spare parts and mechanical charges. With this information, the buyer has the upper hand when negotiating with the seller.
How far in advance should I schedule an inspection?
A day’s notice is usually sufficient, and sometimes we can accommodate same-day appointments depending on the location of the vehicle and the seller’s availability.
When will I receive my report after I place my order?
After you place your online order, our certified inspector will contact the seller to confirm the vehicle’s availability and schedule an inspection. The inspector will then go directly to the vehicle’s location. The inspection can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, depending on the condition of the vehicle and the type of inspection you choose (Basic, Standard, or Premium). You will receive the report on the same day the inspection is completed.
What's the difference between the Basic, Standard and Premium inspection packages?
A basic is a summary of a vehicle’s overall mechanical health. Standard inspection is for hybrids & electric vehicles, whereas Premium inspection is more detailed and includes additional testing with different tools. More information is available on the service page.
What if they sell the vehicle which I booked an inspection?
If the vehicle sells before we arrive, we will hold your order while you search for another vehicle. Once you find another vehicle you’d like us to inspect, we’ll transfer the information and dispatch our inspector immediately.
Will I have the chance to speak with the inspector after receiving the report?
Yes, you can request a verbal version of the car assessment report . Will arrange a conference call with one of our agents or a knowledgeable customer service professional over the phone to review the report. If you decide to proceed with the purchase, we will also provide you with additional critical information during the conversation.
Will you give the seller a copy of the report?
We strive to maintain discretion during inspections to avoid alarming the seller unnecessarily. Our inspectors are trained to ensure a smooth process unless a significant issue arises or the seller is closely monitoring the inspection.
